Alexander Melnikov is one of the brightest minds on and off the piano. In the podcast, he talks to Steven Walter about his path to playing the piano, his youth in Moscow in the 1970s and the moment he will never forget: the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Back in February, he knew that his life as a Russian, breathing and living Russian culture, would never be the same. Alexander Melnikov is a resident artist at the Beethovenfest Bonn 2022.

Steven spricht mit den Musikjournalistinnen Marie und Maria über den Spagat des Festivals zwischen Tradition und Moderne, aber auch übers Chef sein und seine Wege des privaten Ausgleichs in einem mitunter stressigen 24/7-Job als Intendant.

In dieser Sonderfolge von bee.contemporary trifft Intendant Steven Walter die beiden Musikvermittlerinnen des Beethovenfestes Marion Leuschner und Lydia Kappesser. Mit ihnen spricht er über die heutige Definition von Musikvermittlung, welches Nischendasein Musikvermittlung bis vor wenigen Jahren in institutionalisierter Kulturförderung fristete und welche Schritte gegangen werden müssen, damit sie in Zukunft proklamierte Querschnittsaufgabe beim Beethovenfest wird.
